⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dates read: 2/10/2025–2/25/2025 I often hesitate to give a star rating on a memoir. I mean, this is the author’s own story and their account of what happened. I am also always impressed by the memories authors conjure up when writing their own story, sometimes questioning the validity of the stories and statements. So, I am choosing to look at this book review from a “was this captivating and attention holding and would I tell a friend to read it”. . . Here’s the thing about anyone with a diagnosis—When you’ve met one person with_____, then you’ve met one person with_____. This book was no different. This was one woman’s account of her life growing up as a (at first self diagnosed) sociopath. I did find the stories contained in the book interesting and thought provoking. I found the apathy, lack of emotions and anxiety provoking circumstances riveting to listen to. If Abnormal Psych was a class you enjoyed in school (that’s me!), then this book will probably be one to listen to or read. I did enjoy hearing the author tell her story in her own voice and the inflection, prosody and intonation throughout the memoir.
