Reviews

I love this builder gel.

"I love this builder gel. There was a bit of a learning curve, especially for extensions. I have the hang of it now. I just apply to my natural nails for added strength. Sometimes I leave them clear for a natural look or add gel polish in one of the great colors. My nails look great for up to 3 weeks!"

Nice nail set

"Really impressed with the pricing of the kits and everything it comes with. I love getting 6+ colors to play with as well since most other kits give you only 1. It was very straightforward and easy to use. I need to get better with the poppy as I am used to turning the brush when painting, but it makes me much more steady."

— Tina T. (5/5)

There’s a learning curve

"I have very thin nails, but like to have them grown out. I can’t do just gel polish because my nails bend and it causes peeling. The builder gel is amazing! It gave me incredible strength to do a gel polish over top. There is a learning curve to the application. That I’m sure I will get better at with more comfort. But overall, I LOVE this product!"

— Megan (5/5)

"Paid a lot for this gel, manni System with builder gel, upon arrival the nail strengthening leaked okay, and then the color inking and the color lilac luxe are very thick and goopy despite me shaking them before use. the rest of the colors are fine, i do like the colors and it seems like it's a good product. If it works right. But I don't know if I will buy from Olive and June again."

— Christy (3/5)

Learning curve but still looks good!

"This is Blush Bounce with a non-O&J pearl chrome powder over it. I love the peachy-neutral color of the builder gel and will definitely use it a lot more times without the chrome powder, but wanted to try with chrome this time. It’s a bit of a learning curve to use the builder gel but I’m sure I’ll get better with practice. It did burn at first but I followed the video instructions to remove quickly for a few seconds and then reinsert under the lamp, and that worked well. Love the feel of the builder gel…feels more like a pro gel mani."

Might be user error, but…

"I purchased the gel mani kit and the builder gel kit. I’ve followed the directions exactly using the gel polish with both the peel off base and the gel base coat. I could peel off my gel mani within 3 days. Now I’m trying builder gel under my gel mani, but one nail already peeled off after 2 days. What am I doing wrong? I am so happy to say that the system is in NO WAY damaging my nails, so for that I am very thankful!!!"

— Rachel K. (4/5)

Color is great. Gel peeled off completely on day 2

"Not sure how this is supposed to help build nails — not even 24 hours later and three of my nails peeled and lifted. I did thorough prep as usual. So disappointed. I love my regular Olive and June gels I’ve used for a while now. This variety is a miss :("

Nice neutral in a nude shade

"Nice, strong long lasting builder gel. Don’t do the layers too think or it will be more likely to peel and lift."

— Heather F. (5/5)

Mom-Approved

"I gave my mother a manicure using many of your builder gels - she just needed a little more length and wanted a nude mani that wasn't boring. We used Cashmere Kiss, Sky Blue Filter, and Sugar Glow. Look how happy she was! ALSO, I gave her a fill 2 weeks later and the retention was excellent. NO lifting!"

— Anne E. (5/5)

Great system for at-home manis

"I really enjoy the builder gel system! Very easy to use, the self-leveling aspect of the gel is fantastic, and my nails turned out great! The only issue I’ve had so far is with the lamp - I’m not sure if I just got a bad one, but I have to unplug and replug it back in every time I try to turn the power button on to cure, which is a challenge. However, I would still definitely recommend the system!"

Q&A

How long does the builder gel need to cure for?
Great question! Each layer of the builder gel should be cured for 2 minutes. Make sure each coat is applied thin and cured fully before moving on to the next layer for the best results.
Can the colored builder gel be used to build the length also? I have most items in this kit and only need the builder gel and forms. I don't see the clear builder gel sold separately.
Yes! Builder Gel can be used to build more strength and length to the natural nail than would be possible with gel polish. It’s slightly thicker and stronger than traditional gel polish.
Are the nail forms and nail builder sold separately? I don’t need the rest of the items in the kit (I already have them or similar products).
The gel is sold separately (minus the clear builder gel), but the forms are only included in the Builder Gel Kit at this time.
I understand the difference between builder gel to build strength vs regular gel polish. But in terms of purchasing additional colors (after that clear builder base), whats the difference between buying a colored builder gel polish vs putting a traditional gel polish on top of the clear builder? Do the colored builder gels just add additional strength to that clear builder base? Trying to buy a builder kti now and I wanted to get a bunch of additional colors, and I'm just confused if I should be buying colored builder or gel polish?
Great question! Here's the difference: Colored Builder Gel: Adds color AND extra strength on top of your clear builder base. Thicker and more durable. Regular Gel Polish: Just adds color on top of your clear builder base. The strength comes from the builder base underneath. If you want maximum strength, go with colored builder gels. If the clear builder base gives you enough strength, regular gel polish works great too!
Are the nail forms reusable? Or are they single-use?
The nail forms are single-use, but they’re recyclable, so you can toss them responsibly after each use! Keep in mind 50 forms with 3 sizes, come inside the kit.
