The first step is shape and prep. Lightly shape your nails. Clip 90% of the way into your shape and file the last 10% to get an even starting shape. For more shaping tips and tricks, check out our Shaping 101 video. Push back cuticles and buff your nail plate. Wipe each nail with a prep pad to dehydrate your nails.

"This is my format time trying builder gel nail extensions, I love them! Definitely didn't get it perfect on the first try but with practice I think I can get it next time. I'm in love with how natural they feel and don't pinch and lift up on my natural flat thin nails like press ons do. Definitely will be trying again! I put rose glaze on top of strawberry marshmallow to give it a pink iridescent look."

"This is Blush Bounce with a non-O&J pearl chrome powder over it. I love the peachy-neutral color of the builder gel and will definitely use it a lot more times without the chrome powder, but wanted to try with chrome this time. It’s a bit of a learning curve to use the builder gel but I’m sure I’ll get better with practice. It did burn at first but I followed the video instructions to remove quickly for a few seconds and then reinsert under the lamp, and that worked well. Love the feel of the builder gel…feels more like a pro gel mani."
"I purchased the gel mani kit and the builder gel kit. I’ve followed the directions exactly using the gel polish with both the peel off base and the gel base coat. I could peel off my gel mani within 3 days. Now I’m trying builder gel under my gel mani, but one nail already peeled off after 2 days. What am I doing wrong? I am so happy to say that the system is in NO WAY damaging my nails, so for that I am very thankful!!!"
